BRANDES system (NiCr)

Various mobile measuring devices are available for the manual inspection of district heating pipes, which can record the condition of the pipes and classify different types of faults in the event of a fault. Two special devices are used in the BRANDES NiCr system: the BS-MH4 for standard inspection of the condition of the measuring loop and the BS-MOK, which uses integrated localization to output the fault location on the measuring loop.

For manual system checks during construction and system operation

The versatile functions of the BS-MH4 offer comprehensive possibilities in the measurement and transmission of system data - simply and conveniently. The BS-MH4 offers post-insulation companies, network operators and every measurement technician all the advantages of a special inspection system for all types of measurement loops and BRANDES sensor cables.

The BS-MH4 can be used individually for different measuring systems: It measures on NiCr sensor cables in the Nordic system, on the BRANDES NiCr system and on the HDW system.

Each measurement cycle includes testing the loop continuity, measuring the loop length for BRANDES sensor technology (NiCr), measuring the MH level (insulation resistance) with testing for metallic contact between the sensor loop and pipe, measuring the contact resistance at the pipe contact and checking the supply voltage, as well as measuring the external or element voltage.

The measurement logs can be temporarily stored in the device and edited immediately or later via the BRANDES app and forwarded directly by email. Alternatively, readout via USB connection is possible.

  • All measurement logs can be transmitted wirelessly via Bluetooth interface, e.g. to a smartphone with the Brandes Connect app, and forwarded by email including additional text information.
  • Measurement logs can also be read out directly via the USB port.
  • A wide range of supply options ensure availability for daily use.
  • The recording of geographical positions, linking with current measurement data and further processing with the Brandes route editor opens up new possibilities for system documentation.

For manual location and inspection of damage during construction and system operation

The versatile functions of the BS-MOK offer comprehensive options for measuring and locating insulation faults and leaks - simply and conveniently. The BS-MOK offers post-insulation companies, network operators and every measurement technician all the advantages of a special manual locating device for all fire sensor cables in insulated or double-walled pipes, raised floors and cooling ceilings.

  • For acceptance testing of construction projects as proof of quality
  • Commissioning of continuous monitoring systems
  • Manual monitoring and localization of moisture faults, leaks or similar
  • To determine single and multiple defects

Function:

  • The BS-MOK measures the humidity and displays it in 15 intensity levels (MH levels).
  • The sensor loop is checked for length, interruption, metallic contact and external voltages.
  • The humidity display and the locating accuracy of up to 0.2 % at 1000 m sensor loop length enable precise diagnosis and exact determination of the fault location
