Water protection and safety
With a height of around 142 meters and 37 floors, the EDGE East Side Tower in Berlin-Friedrichshain is one of the tallest office buildings in Germany. The building, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), combines state-of-the-art architecture, energy efficiency and digital building control.
The project was realized by ZÜBLIN as general contractor, while the building automation was implemented by HOSCH.
Project objective
Early detection and localization of water leaks across several office floors in order to avoid operational downtimes and structural damage - while at the same time meeting the highest standards of design and integration into the building technology.
Solution: FluidGuard® system from Brandes
As part of this project, FluidGuard® technology from Brandes was implemented for permanent moisture and leakage monitoring. The system detects even the smallest amounts of moisture or leaking water and reacts immediately:
- Sensor technology across several floors for pinpoint detection and localization of water ingress
- Real-time alarm and automatic forwarding to the building management system (BMS)
- Automatic valve control for immediate shutdown of affected water pipes
- Integration into existing BMS structures with visualization and fault message forwarding
- Fast, targeted intervention in the event of damage
